We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a Junior Infrastructure Engineer to develop and grow within a fast-paced and expanding team. As a Junior Infrastructure Engineer at B&M, you will play a vital role in supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of our IT infrastructure. Working closely with experienced Infrastructure and Network Engineers, as well as wider IT teams, you will help ensure the reliability, performance, and security of the hardware, software, networks, and systems that underpin B&M’s technology environment.
This role provides hands-on experience across a wide range of infrastructure, gaining mentorship and guidance while gradually taking on more complex responsibilities, ensuring you build the skills and expertise needed to advance your career in infrastructure engineering.
You will be responsible for:
1. Install, configure, deploy, and maintain servers, networks, storage systems, and related infrastructure in line with Change Management processes.
2. Administer and monitor servers and systems, ensuring performance, updates, patches, and issue resolution.
3. Manage network and infrastructure troubleshooting, incident response, on-call support, and site visits as required.
4. Contribute to backup, disaster recovery, and security best practices to safeguard data and systems.
5. Provide technical support, resolve infrastructure-related issues, and collaborate on complex problem-solving.
6. Maintain documentation, follow change management processes, and support infrastructure-related projects and upgrades.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
7. Familiarity with server hardware, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and virtualisation technologies.
8. A detailed understanding and experience of Microsoft products (M365) and platforms (Windows Servers)
9. A basic understanding of networking principles, protocols, and devices.
10. Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and network administration/protocols with demonstrable experience of switching and wireless.
11. Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) is a plus.
12. Knowledge of security best practices and willingness to learn and implement security measures.
13. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
14. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
15. Eagerness to learn and stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends.
