The Role
Renfrewshire Community Treatment and Care (CTAC) service is looking for 3 full‑time band 3 health‑care support workers to join our team on an 18‑month fixed‑term contract.
The CTAC Service will provide an accessible, appropriate, high quality, culturally sensitive, effective treatment room service to individuals within a primary care treatment & care room setting. You will work in partnership with other members of the primary care team and assist in skilled clinical interventions and the implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients and their carers.
The post holders will support the Community Treatment Room Nursing Staff, District Nurse or their deputy to deliver safe and effective patient care within a community/GP clinic setting, mainly without direct supervision.
The service also provides a phlebotomy service to residents of Renfrewshire within a clinic environment and within their own homes, contributing to health improvement initiatives for both individuals and families.
Post holders will be required to work flexibly in terms of location geographically within the HSCP to support other areas of teams working within the local CTAC / District Nursing service.
A Clean, Current Full Driving Licence Is Required
It is desirable that you have an SVQ Level 3 in health care or equivalent experience and are a car driver.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
* Location: Renfrewshire HSCP CTAC Team
* Fixed‑term Contract: 18 months
* Full‑time position (36 hours per week)
* Shift pattern: 08:15 until 16:15, Monday‑Friday, excluding public holidays
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with the nursing care of the patient under the direction of a trained nurse, including all basic care within the patient’s home and in clinics.
* Provide care and support to patients and their families in their own homes and within clinics, often working alone.
* Observe and report any change in the patient’s condition and communicate verbally to the nurse in charge; changes must be documented in patient records.
* Administer bolus feed via a gastrostomy tube and commence/discontinue PEG feeding systems as directed by a trained nurse. Change the water in a gastrostomy tube in adults.
* Participate and support the care of patients ensuring skin integrity is maintained, adhering to current manual handling procedures and assisting those patients unable to self‑care with personal hygiene and dressing.
* Support patients and carers with catheter management and stoma care and maintenance. Encourage and support self‑care for patients when assessed as appropriate.
* Carry out investigatory procedures and obtain specimens as required (e.g., urine collections, stool samples).
* Remove sutures and medical clips once approved training and competency is achieved.
* Undertake phlebotomy (take blood) procedures for housebound patients and within GP clinics.
* Be aware of how to dispose of sharps/clinical waste in accordance with GGC policy.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience
* SVQ3 in Healthcare (or ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge gained through similar experience).
* Evidence of significant experience in a care environment.
* Significant community experience.
* Well‑developed communication skills; ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
* IT skills: word processing, email, internet.
* Ability to work to challenging deadlines.

Work‑Life Balance
