Employment Type: Permanent - Part Time
Location: Priory Hospital Chelmsford
Compensation: £32,000 - £42,400 / year
Description
Priory Hospital Chelmsford is looking to recruit a Family Therapist to join the team. This is a part-time / 30 Hours role.
This is a part‑time position (30 hours per week), with a pro rata salary of £32,000–£42,400 per annum, depending on experience.
Situated within three acres of landscaped grounds, Priory Hospital Chelmsford is an independent hospital that specialises in the treatment and management of adults and adolescents with a range of mental health problems. There is a highly experienced team of mental health professionals and support staff, which include consultant psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses and therapists.
The hospital offers calming and recovery focused residential treatment for up to 60 service users, as well as day care and outpatient services, including separate facilities for young people.
What you'll be doing
You'll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the hospital and to support the wellbeing of our patients. While your role doesn't involve providing direct care, your contribution is vital in helping to maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you're assisting with day‑to‑day operations, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after, your support plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here.
* Provide therapeutic support and interventions to children, adolescents, and their families to address mental health challenges.
* Facilitate family therapy sessions to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen family relationships.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary CAMHS team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
* Assess family dynamics and identify factors affecting the young person's mental health and wellbeing.
* Offer guidance and support to families to promote coping strategies and resilience during inpatient treatment.
What you'll bring to the role
Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.
A successful family therapist should have a strong foundation in psychological theories and therapeutic techniques specific to family systems, with proven experience working with children, adolescents, and their families in clinical or community settings. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to build trust, navigate complex family dynamics, and facilitate open dialogue. The ability to assess and understand diverse family structures, cultural backgrounds, and individual needs is crucial for delivering effective and personalised interventions. Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams, particularly in mental health environments, enhances holistic care delivery. Additionally, strong problem‑solving skills, emotional resilience, and ongoing professional development are important to adapt to the evolving needs of clients and maintain best practices in family therapy.
