You will lead a dedicated team of Customer Contact & Library Advisors, ensuring that every visitor receives a compassionate, efficient and responsive service. This role blends people leadership, service development, and operational excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Day‑to‑day management of staff including supervision, absence, appraisals and team meetings.
2. Coordinate rota’s to ensure appropriate staffing levels at all libraries.
3. Lead recruitment and induction of new staff.
4. Maintain and develop a modern, inclusive Library Service.
5. Embed customer service excellence across the team.
6. Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations and best practice.
7. Prioritise and resolve customer enquiries effectively.
8. Act as a point of escalation for complaints and challenging situations.
9. Organise community events, workshops and activities.
10. Promote library services via social media and maintain up‑to‑date web content.
11. Support customers with basic ICT assistance.
12. Develop and promote book stock and other resources.
13. Responsible for cash handling, reconciliation and financial accuracy.
14. Maintain safe working environments and secure buildings when required.
15. Conduct regular quality assurance checks.
REQUIREMENTS
16. Library & Information Studies degree or equivalent, OR at least 3 years’ library management experience.
17. GCSE Maths Grade C or above.
18. Welsh & English language skills at Level 4.
19. Minimum 2 years’ staff supervision experience.
20. Experience dealing with challenging customer interactions.
21. Good knowledge of Council Services.
22. Strong IT and data entry skills.

Customer Contact & ICT
Our service has a range of responsibilities from providing advice and support to the residents of Ceredigion to providing corporate support via our ICT, reception and mailroom teams. Our service is responsible for the following functions:
29. Civil Registration: Birth, deaths and marriages.
30. Corporate Customer Services: Blue badge; Contact centre; Mailroom and scanning; Receptions.
31. ICT and Information Management: Archives and modern records; ICT support; Infrastructure and security; Project and application support; Reprographics, Technical support, Software development.
