Job Title: SEN Primary Teaching Assistant Location: High Peak Salary: £100 - £110 per day (Depending on experience) Start Date: ASAP or September 2025 Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time Are you a nurturing and proactive individual with experience supporting children with special educational needs in a primary setting? GSL Education are welcoming applications for a SEN Primary Teaching Assistant to begin this September in a warm, inclusive primary school in High Peak. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of pupils with a range of additional needs. Please note: a driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for this role. Key Responsibilities: Provide high-quality 1:1 or group support to children with a range of SEN. Assist teachers in planning and delivering differentiated lessons and interventions. Adapt materials and strategies to support varying needs and abilities. Help manage challenging behaviour and emotional regulation using positive support techniques. Support the implementation of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) for specific pupils. Encourage pupil confidence, independence, and engagement with learning activities. Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals. Be available to travel between school sites or work across different classes as needed. Job Requirements: Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a primary school environment. Valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle – essential. Knowledge of various SEN needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language, and SEMH. A patient, empathetic, and child-centred approach to support. Good behaviour management and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
