About The Role
We are looking for people to join our Safer Housing Department in our Selective Licensing team as a Compliance Officer. We are looking for individuals who have experience; working within the privately rented housing sector, surveying and inspecting domestic properties, and/or those who have transferable skills with an ability to learn and develop within the role.

A large proportion of our work involves carrying out inspections to ensure that legal standards are met, and, tackling poor conditions and unsatisfactory management in licensed properties within the private rented sector.

With significant housing licensing schemes operating in Nottingham, we need enthusiastic and self-motivated officers to help deliver our highly ambitious aims. You will work alongside colleagues to engage positively with landlords and help tackle rogue and criminal landlords and support project work.

Nottingham is a dynamic and popular city which is in an area of high housing demand, with a high percentage of privately rented houses many of which are not well maintained. We are determined to continue to improve the private rented sector in Nottingham, to reduce anti-social behaviour and drive up housing conditions. The Vision of the Council is to make Nottingham Safe, Clean, Ambitious and Proud, where people live in safe, warm and affordable homes.

At Nottingham City Council, we believe that work is what you do, not where you do it. We offer different working arrangements, depending on the role, including hybrid working. Further information on Worker Types and what these mean in terms of how and where you work can be found on the
