A vibrant secondary school in Newham, is seeking a Head of PE to take charge of their Physical Education provision from September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent position with a TLR1B attached, reflecting the importance of strong leadership in this core subject. As Head of PE, you’ll oversee curriculum development, staff support, and a broad range of extracurricular activities — from sports clubs to whole-school health initiatives. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the PE department across all key stages Develop and oversee an inclusive and inspiring PE curriculum Support, coach, and line-manage teaching staff in the department Organise fixtures, sports days, and extracurricular events Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and behaviour Promote physical wellbeing and healthy lifestyles across the school Contribute to whole-school leadership and strategic planning Qualifications and Experience Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Experience teaching PE in a secondary setting Previous leadership experience or strong evidence of leadership potential Excellent subject knowledge and curriculum awareness Strong interpersonal and team management skills A commitment to inclusion, wellbeing, and professional growth Passion for using sport to foster confidence, teamwork, and resilience School Staff Direct and our partner school are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
