Day Residential Childcare Worker
Location: Willow Vue Children's Home, 75 Crossley Street, Gorton, Manchester, M18 8BD - Fixed Based
Overview
This is a full-time Day Residential Child Care Worker role to work within a 6 bedded residential children's home. We are looking for people who believe they have the qualities and skills needed to support our children and maintain stability. You will need to be emotionally and physically fit to work with young people aged 11–17 who can be emotionally and physically challenging and have complex needs. You will need to establish and maintain relationships with the young people to challenge their existing patterns of behaviour. You will work proactively with appropriate stakeholders to assess individual needs and ensure positive outcomes. Willow Vue currently has an Ofsted rating of good. You will create a culture and ethos within the home in which the needs of the young people are paramount, and they are encouraged to develop, mature and grow. The service is committed to the ongoing personal development of the staff to meet the needs of the young people.
Hours, Contract and Conditions
Hours: 35 hours per week (full time) available: 140 hours over 28 day/4 week rota, including earlies, lates, sleeps, weekends and Bank Holidays
Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent
Closing Date: 15 September 2025
Additional Payments: 10% Flexibility payment
Role is subject to: Medical clearance (Pre-placement health assessment), DBS clearance, and qualification requirements as listed below.
Responsibilities
* Work within a 6 bedded residential children's home to support and care for young people aged 11–17 with complex needs.
* Establish and maintain relationships with the young people to challenge behaviour and support positive outcomes.
* Work proactively with appropriate stakeholders to assess individual needs and ensure positive outcomes.
* Contribute to creating a safe, supportive, and development-focused environment in the home.
Qualifications and Experience
* Diploma Level 3 in working with Children and Young People in Residential Care or equivalent; or be willing and able to undertake the Diploma Level 3 within 6 months of appointment.
* DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance required; Enhanced DBS check.
* Essential 12 months experience working in environments with babies, children, young adults and adults.
* Desirable: Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent; experience working with children who have challenging behaviour; safeguarding training.
* A full driving licence is desirable to drive the home’s vehicle.
* Will consider individuals new to the sector with a full training and induction programme.

The team maintains a high level of care and works consistently to provide the best possible care. This role is predominantly fixed-based with potential location-specific requirements and a dedicated workspace. Hours may be flexible depending on the role.
