Job Description
We are seeking an adaptable Service Designer for a permanent role, capable of working effectively within multidisciplinary, agile teams to deliver excellent results on GDS projects for our public sector clients.
You will collaborate with users and stakeholders to design products and services, considering both the end-to-end journey and individual components. Your portfolio should demonstrate your ability to understand user needs, adhere to design standards, and communicate your decisions clearly.
Please note: Eligibility for Security Clearance is required for this role. Typically, this involves having a continuous UK address history of 5 years, with no periods of 30+ days spent outside the UK at the time of application.
Qualifications
* Strong understanding of design thinking; capable of applying frameworks appropriately.
* Evidence-based approach to design, testing assumptions to ensure simplicity and effectiveness.
Focus on Users and Needs
* Ability to conduct basic user research and collaborate with user researchers.
* Designs that meet diverse user needs, with clear explanations of decisions and constraints.
Concepts and Prototyping
* Creating and iterating prototypes at suitable fidelity levels.
* Evaluating and explaining concepts to stakeholders.
* Applying and discussing design patterns within the community.
Accessible/Inclusive Design
* Understanding key principles and applying them appropriately.
* Evaluating designs against accessibility standards.
Design Standards Knowledge
* Understanding and demonstrating compliance with relevant standards, especially for UK public sector projects.
Consultancy Skills
* Effective communication of design processes and decisions.
* Stakeholder management and issue escalation skills.
Agile Working
* Aligning user-centered design practices with agile workflows.
