Job Summary
The successful candidate will be based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant, and will spend time at Prince Charles Hospital and Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda. They will complement the existing dermatology service across Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board and are expected to provide on average 7 clinical sessions per week. The dermatology consultants rotate between outpatients, ward work and subspecialty sessions. Protected time is available for audit, research and teaching, facilitating development of the dermatology service. The successful candidate will contribute to service mapping and redesign within the new Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.

Responsibilities
* Play a pivotal role in ensuring effective communication processes for all clinical stakeholders, so that they are aware of the range of services available, the standard to which they operate, and the evidence base supporting their use.
* Understand the service vision and its implications on practice.
* Contribute to planning and evaluation of all services.
* Work in close cooperation with other clinical, medical professional and managerial colleagues to provide high‑quality healthcare to the health board's patients.
* Ensure provision of a first‑class clinical service, including effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty.
* Sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriate.
* Undertake all work in accordance with health board procedures, operating policies, contractual requirements and the directorate's service plans.
* Maintain confidence in business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty, directorate and health board.
* Deliver care in the acute hospital setting, participate in CPD including audit, and undertake regular multidisciplinary clinical audit to provide evidence‑based medicine.
Person Specification
* Knowledge, personal skills and abilities
o Essential: Specific interest in skin cancer management; experience and desire to lead a skin cancer MDT; proven clinical ability to a high standard.
o Desirable: Evidence of papers presented at national or international meetings; sub‑specialisation and special interests within dermatology; proven leadership qualities in previous posts.
* Education / Qualifications and training
o Essential: MRCP(UK) or equivalent; full GMC registration.
o Desirable: An appropriate higher degree, e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent.
* Experience
o Essential: Extensive experience & training in dermatology; working knowledge and experience of the NHS.
o Desirable: None.
