The RHN is seeking to appoint an experienced Buildings Fabric Operative.
Job title: Estates Buildings Technician
Salary: £35,000 - £37,000 + on call bonus
Hours: Full time, 36 hours per week
Location: Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability, Putney, South West London
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the post holder will ensure the RHN Estate is maintained in accordance with industry best practice, to the appropriate quality and standards expected within a healthcare establishment.

Main Responsibilities
* Using the post holder's specific trade skills and knowledge, install, repair and maintain the Hospitals' building fabric, fixtures and fittings, finishes and decorations.
* Undertake planned maintenance tasks to the building fabric as required within given priorities & time frames as generated from CAFM system
* To carry out with minimum supervision, reactive repairs to building fabric both internal & external
* To undertake minor building carpentry and decorating projects – as requested by department mangers
* To undertake annual inspection of fire and none fire doors across the estate
* To undertake changing, repairing of locks & other ironmongery fittings
* Other building related tasks as required by the Management team.
* Working within the On Call Rota This role requires involvement in the on call rota on a 4/5 week basis, to respond to any emergency breakdown requests outside of normal working hours
Person Specification
Qualifications / Training
* Carpentry or construction industry qualification (or equivalent)
* Completion of a recognised CITB apprenticeship (or equivalent)
Experience
* Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role
* Experience working in a hospital or similar environment (including acute settings)
* Experience working in both old and new buildings
* Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on building fabric in a healthcare environment
Knowledge
* Good communication skills
* Ability to work independently without supervision
* Adaptable to change
* Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation
* Understanding of statutory compliance and best practice ACOPs
* Knowledge of HTMs and HBNs
* Ability to make judgements where situations require analysis rather than straightforward decisions
* Knowledge of, and ability to carry out, minor works of other trades following training
