Job Title: Conveyancing Fee Earner
Location: Chelmsford
Position: Full-time, Permanent
Overview
An established and reputable law firm based in Chelmsford is seeking an experienced Conveyancing Fee Earner to join its growing property department. This is a fee‑earning role, not secretarial, suitable for a qualified CILEX Lawyer, CILEX Paralegal, or someone currently studying towards CILEX with strong hands-on conveyancing experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a full residential conveyancing caseload from instruction through to completion
- Handling a mix of freehold and leasehold transactions
- Acting on sales, purchases, transfers of equity, and remortgages
- Drafting contracts, dealing with enquiries, and reviewing titles
- Liaising with clients, estate agents, lenders, and solicitors
- Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and firm procedures
- Providing a high level of client care throughout the transaction
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Conveyancing Fee Earner (not a legal secretary or assistant)
- CILEX qualified or working towards CILEX, or equivalent substantive conveyancing experience
- Ability to manage an independent caseload with minimal supervision
- Strong knowledge of residential conveyancing processes
- Confident communicator with excellent client-facing skills
- Highly organised with good attention to detail
Desirable
- Experience using case management systems
- Ability to work effectively as part of a busy team
- Local knowledge of the Chelmsford / Essex property market
