Salary: £30,000-£40,000 depending on experience
Job Purpose
To produce accurate 2D and 3D engineering designs and drawings to support manufacturing, sales, and installation of industrial chain and materials handling equipment. This role provides vital technical support to ensure that products are designed and manufactured to specification, on time, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
1. Using Inventor / AutoCAD to produce accurate 2D and 3D technical/engineering drawings for manufacturing.
2. Understanding product and application needs and integrating feedback into technical drawings/specs.
3. Reverse engineer specifications and drawings from example parts/photographs/basic information.
4. Working with colleagues and customers providing support for sales, manufacturing and installation activities.
5. Designing & detailing fabrications for manufacture, assembly, and installation. (e.g. conveyor sections, slide valves, conveyor chains, sprockets, sheet metal fabrications).
6. Support manufacturing team with interpretation of designs and drawings, answering queries and providing sufficient information.
7. Ensure all technical drawings and plans precisely follow specifications and standards.
8. Examine existing designs, identify errors/inconsistencies, and make necessary changes.
9. Enter, maintain, and manage CAD data and files to create accurate information logs.
10. Carrying out customer visit sites to collect data for drawing production.
**Occasional Flexibility is required in terms of working hours and location (e.g. customer visits)
Essential Skills/Experience Required
1. Experience of using 3D CAD software.
2. General knowledge of mechanical handling/ engineering principles.
3. Basic Design engineering skills.
4. Understanding of design for manufacture.
5. Metallurgical understanding covering materials and heat treatments.
6. Ability to reverse engineer customer samples and/ or data collected from customer sites.
7. Experience of using calibrated measuring instruments such as vernier calliper, micrometres etc.
8. Managing own time and prioritising workload effectively.
9. Ability to multi-task and work flexibly as part of a team.
Desirable Skills/Experience Required
1. Design engineering skills.
2. Autodesk Inventor.
3. A background or experience in the materials handling industry.
4. Raising product codes & BOMs.
5. Continuous Improvement / problem resolutions experience
