Job Description

As Corporate Security Senior Advisor, you will work in a small team responsible for providing assurance that we are effectively addressing security risks and fostering a positive security culture. You will serve as a role model for security, promoting good behaviors and a strong security mindset. Your efforts will contribute to safeguarding the organisation from threats to our people, data, information, and physical assets.
In this role, you will:
1. Assist the Corporate Security Manager in overseeing and mitigating security risks.
2. Provide leadership on assessing and managing security risks, including our retained responsibilities.
3. Collaborate with risk owners across the organisation to ensure risks are understood and mitigated.
4. Offer assurance to the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) for security, EA Board, and Executive Directors.
5. Partner with Defra group Security to develop and implement security strategies, policies, and procedures.
6. Lead initiatives to enhance our security culture through training, communication, and engagement.
7. Conduct governance meetings to oversee security-related decisions.
8. Maintain professional networks to stay informed about the latest security developments.

The team
You will be part of a small, welcoming team within the Corporate Management, Assurance, and Security team, focused on protecting and empowering the organisation. You will have access to the expertise of the professional security teams in Defra group Security and collaborate with subject matter experts at the Environment Agency.
Experience and skills required
The external security landscape is complex and constantly evolving. While you do not need to be a security professional, the following skills and experience are essential:
* An understanding of broader influences on organisational security to enable continuous improvement.
* Proven leadership skills to achieve results, foster partnerships, influence, and inspire others.
* Ability to build effective collaborations with Defra and Environment Agency colleagues to jointly manage risks.
* Experience working with senior stakeholders, managing multiple priorities, and balancing demands.
* Experience in inspiring cultural change, stakeholder management, communications, engagement, and implementing business change initiatives is advantageous.

This is a hybrid role; you will be based at your nearest location in England, with the flexibility to work from home. Some national travel may be required.
