An established engineering and manufacturing business based in Barnsley is looking to recruit a reliable and motivated Engineering Operative to join its shop-floor team. This is an up-skilling role, ideal for someone interested in building a long-term career in the engineering and manufacturing sector. Full training will be provided, so this position suits candidates who are hands-on, eager to learn, and committed to developing new technical skills. Key Responsibilities of an Engineering Operative Supporting shop-floor operations across production and fabrication areas Operating an FLT (Counterbalance) to move materials safely and efficiently Assisting with flattening rolls and pyramid rolls Working with press brake machinery (training provided; experience desirable) Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and housekeeping Assisting skilled operators and learning engineering processes General floorman and material-handling duties as required Essential Requirements of an Engineering Operative Valid FLT Counterbalance licence Strong work ethic and willingness to learn Good awareness of health and safety Ability to work effectively as part of a team Interest in pursuing a career in engineering and manufacturing Desirable (but Not Essential) Press brake experience Experience with flattening rolls or pyramid rolls Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment Working Hours Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 3:45pm Friday: 6:00am – 1:00pm Pay & Progression Minimum wage starting rate Pay increase available once fully trained and competent Clear progression opportunities into skilled engineering roles What's on Offer Full training and structured up-skilling Long-term career development Supportive shop-floor environment Permanent, stable employment Disclaimer At Venatu Recruitment Group, your right to privacy is important to us.
