Job Description:
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Science Tutor to support students preparing for GCSE and A-Level exams in Biology and Chemistry. The ideal candidate must have strong subject knowledge and a passion for helping students excel academically. You will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons to individual/small groups of students, adapting teaching methods to suit individual learning styles, and ensuring students gain confidence and mastery in their subjects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver structured and engaging science lessons tailored to GCSE and A-Level curricula.
* Provide clear explanations of complex concepts, focusing on exam techniques and problem-solving skills.
* Assess students' progress through regular testing, feedback, and performance tracking.
* Adapt lessons to cater to different learning needs, including students aiming for top grades and those needing extra support.
* Help students develop effective revision strategies and exam techniques to maximize their potential.
* Stay updated with curriculum changes and exam board requirements (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, etc.).
* Offer constructive feedback and progress reports to students and, if applicable, their parents/guardians.
Requirements:
* A degree in a relevant science field (Biology, Chemistry or a related discipline).
* Proven experience in teaching/tutoring GCSE and A-Level Science subjects.
* Strong understanding of exam board specifications and mark schemes.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage students effectively.
* Ability to motivate and build confidence in students.
* *Optional* A teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS) or tutoring certification is desirable.
