We are looking for an interim finance director for an energy supplier client. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing financial strategies to ensure that the company meets its operational and strategic objectives. The finance director will oversee the financial aspects of district heating projects, which include budgeting, forecasting, and cost management. Additionally, the finance director will advise the Board and executive team on financial risks, opportunities, and strategic initiatives. Financial Operations Duties * Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. * Manage cash flow, working capital, and funding for ongoing and future projects. * Ensure timely and accurate billing, revenue recognition, and cost recovery processes, specific to district heating operations. Stakeholder Management Duties * Collaborate with external stakeholders, including investors, regulators, auditors, and local authorities. * Act as the financial point of contact for project funding and capital investment discussions. * Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and other key partners. Risk Management & Compliance, and Team Leadership Duties * Identify and manage financial risks, particularly those related to energy pricing, contract agreements, and infrastructure investment. * Ensure compliance with all tax, regulatory, and reporting obligations, including specific energy sector requirements. * Monitor and manage exposure to fluctuations in energy markets and related financial implications. * Review and enhance financial processes, controls, and reporting systems to improve efficiency and accuracy. * Provide financial guidance to operational teams to ensure alignment with the company’s objectives. Qualifications and Experience * Proven experience as a Finance Director, CFO, or senior financial leader, ideally in the energy, utilities, or infrastructure sectors. * Strong understanding of district heating operations, energy markets, and relevant financial challenges. * Qualified accountant * Demonstrated expertise in financial strategy, forecasting, and risk management. * Knowledge of UK regulatory and compliance requirements in the energy sector. * Experience managing project financing and capital investment in large-scale infrastructure projects. * Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
