Overview
Security Officer role at Rutland Regional Medical Center. The Officer will enforce hospital policies, procedures, and regulations to provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This position includes patrols, hazard reporting, and managing access to the Emergency Department (ED).
Responsibilities
* Enforce hospital policies, procedures, and regulations under general direction from department leadership.
* Provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees.
* Patrol assigned areas to identify potential safety hazards and unusual occurrences and report them in a timely manner.
* Manage the Emergency Department Visitor Management System and ED access control.
* Investigate complaints or potential criminal conduct and assist in restraining patients as necessary.
* Provide protective services to patients, staff, and visitors as required.
Minimum Education
* High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Work Experience
* Previous experience as a Security Officer, preferably in a healthcare setting, is desired.
* Previous experience as a first responder is preferred.
* Previous experience in customer service or public-facing roles is preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications
* Maintains a valid driver’s license.
* Completion of endorsed patient/visitor de-escalation and restraint program certification (required within 3 months of hire).
* BLS Certification through American Heart Association (required within 6 months of hire).
* OCAT Certification (required within 3 months of hire).
* PATH Certification (required within 3 months of hire).
* HERT Certification (required within 1 year of hire).
* International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety Basic certification (required within 1 year of hire).

* Knowledge of federal, state, and local statutes and regulations applicable to security operations.
* Ability to utilize personal vehicle for business purposes as needed.
* Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
* Interpersonal skills to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
* Willingness and ability to rotate duties across locations and roles.
* Ability to read, write, speak, and follow written and oral instructions.
* Discretion in handling confidential information.
* Strong communication skills and clear thinking to communicate with others.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and related tools.
Pay range
$19.09 - $28.22
