WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Join us as a Communications Manager and play a pivotal role in shaping BASF's voice across the UK and Ireland. In this role, you'll lead impactful internal and external communications that strengthen our brand, engage our people, and build trust with the audiences who matter most. Working closely with senior leaders, you'll help ensure our story is clear, consistent and aligned with our strategic goals.
1. Lead internal and support external communications for the UK & Ireland, ensuring a unified BASF One Voice approach and consistent implementation of global brand and communication guidelines.
2. Manage media and digital presence, including press relations, journalist engagement, crisis/issues communication support, and high quality content across websites and social media in line with legal and data privacy requirements.
3. Plan and deliver impactful employee communications, including campaigns, info sessions, internal events, intranet content and newsletters, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and regional guidance.
4. Advise and support senior leaders and site management on effective communication approaches, change messaging, and identifying strong local stories that showcase innovation, engagement and best practice.
5. Support site communications and societal engagement activities, building trust with local stakeholders and strengthening BASF's reputation.
6. Manage communication channels and agency partners, ensuring the right tools and methods are used for each audience while exploring new technologies to improve reach and engagement.
WHAT YOU OFFER
7. Degree level education (or equivalent), ideally in communications, public relations, or a related field, with 3+ years' experience in corporate communications (preferably within the chemical, industrial, or regulated sectors).
8. Strong communicator with excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills, able to adapt tone and simplify complex topics for different audiences across multiple channels and formats (written, visual, audio).
9. Proven experience in internal and external communications, including media relationship management, proactive story development, campaign planning, change communications, and strategic internal communications delivery.
10. Confident operating in a matrix environment, balancing multiple priorities with sound judgement, especially when handling sensitive or complex issues, and building trust across all organizational levels.
11. Highly organized, creative, and proactive, with strong stakeholder management, project delivery capability, and the ability to manage competing deadlines while maintaining high quality output.
12. Good understanding of UK & Ireland institutions, media and environmental topics, alongside solid IT proficiency (Microsoft tools, SAP) and a grounded understanding of corporate disciplines such as confidentiality and acting within defined authority.
