We are working closely with the highly regarded Legal 500 firm looking to appoint a Practice Manager to join their Central Management team in London.
This is a strategic and commercially focused appointment, working directly alongside the Chief Operating Officer, playing a critical role in supporting Heads of Department across the business and helping drive operational excellence, financial discipline, and firm-wide strategic alignment.
The Firm
This prominent firm has exciting growth plans over the next few years. Their current turnover is £19 million, with projected growth to £20 million next year. They are forecasting a further 15% growth year on year and are well placed to continue exceeding this.
They currently house 200 staff, of which 150 are Solicitors and Partners. As a firm they like to grow organically and promote from within, and there are multiple examples and success stories, including an individual who joined the firm as a trainee and is now a director over the course of 5 years.
They are a multi-service practice and they punch well above their weight and their main competitors are impressively some Top 50 firms.

The Role
We are looking for a Practice Manager to work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and senior leadership team, supporting Heads of Department in delivering against their operational, strategic, and commercial objectives. This is a broad and highly visible role that will play a central part in strengthening financial rigour, improving operational processes, supporting workforce planning, and ensuring departments remain aligned with wider firm strategy.
Responsibilities
* Supporting Heads of Department with budget preparation, financial reporting, and KPI monitoring
* Assisting on pricing decisions, profitability reviews, and matter economics in conjunction with Finance
* Supporting resource planning, utilisation tracking, and commercially appropriate work allocation
* Coordinating departmental business planning cycles and tracking progress against strategic objectives
* Identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency
* Supporting professional development, engagement initiatives, and performance processes
* Acting as a key liaison between Heads of Department, Finance, HR, and senior leadership, preparing reports and management updates
Requirements
* Previous experience working in a law firm or professional services environment would be advantageous, though not essential
* Strong financial literacy with the ability to interpret budgets, reporting, and commercial trends
* Excellent project management and organisational skills
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders
* A collaborative team player who is comfortable working cross-functionally across the wider business
* High attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to remain calm and structured under pressure
