As a Lead Site Reliability Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Risk Technology Team, you will hold a leadership role in your team, demonstrating strong knowledge across multiple technical domains and advising others on technical and business issues. You will lead resiliency design reviews, break down complex problems for other engineers, act as a technical lead for medium to large-sized products, and mentor team members.
Job responsibilities
* Promote and implement site reliability culture and practices, exerting technical influence within your team.
* Lead initiatives to enhance the reliability and stability of applications and platforms, utilizing data-driven analytics to improve service levels.
* Collaborate with team members to identify service level indicators, establish service level objectives, and error budgets with stakeholders.
* Maintain high technical expertise in one or more domains, proactively resolving technology bottlenecks.
* Serve as the main contact during major incidents, quickly identifying and resolving issues to prevent financial losses.
* Share knowledge within the organization through internal forums and communities of practice.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
* Formal training or certification in reliability, scalability, performance, security, enterprise architecture, or related areas, with advanced experience.
* Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java Spring Boot, or Unix Shell.
* Deep understanding of software applications and technical processes, with emerging expertise in specific disciplines.
* Experience with observability tools like Grafana, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Datadog, Splunk, including monitoring, SLO alerting, and telemetry collection.
* Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Terraform.
* Experience with containers and orchestration tools like Docker, Kubernetes, ECS.
* Ability to troubleshoot networking issues effectively.
* Strong problem-solving skills related to complex data structures and algorithms.
* Self-motivated to learn new technologies and teach programming languages to team members.
* Ability to collaborate across different stakeholder groups and levels.
* Working knowledge of Apache, Tomcat, and TomEE.
