About the role:
We are seeking a passionate and ambitious External Communications Manager to join The Very Group in Liverpool. You will work closely with the head of external communications and investor relations to develop and execute the company's external communications strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop the external communications strategy alongside senior leadership.
* Manage daily press office activities, ensuring timely responses to media enquiries.
* Write and distribute press releases, op-eds, feature comments, and social media content (excluding employer brand content).
* Prepare and brief leadership team members for media interviews, speaking engagements, and stakeholder meetings.
* Assist in managing reputational issues in collaboration with the communications team and PR advisors.
* Measure and report on communication effectiveness to internal teams.
* Oversee The Very Group’s corporate website.
* Lead key projects related to the company's corporate brand, including creative initiatives and tone of voice.
About you:
We are looking for a dedicated, ambitious individual eager to develop within a high-performing team. The ideal candidate will have:
* Three to five years of PR experience, preferably with a mix of agency and in-house roles.
* Experience working with large, complex organizations, ideally in retail, tech, or financial services sectors.
* Proven ability to plan and execute effective communication strategies.
* Exceptional writing and editing skills with keen attention to detail.
* Creativity and a strong sense of storytelling to generate media coverage and owned content.
* Understanding of issues management and risk recognition.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
* Confidence in engaging with journalists and external partners.
* Strong self-motivation and time management skills.
* Solid knowledge of social media platforms and website management experience.
