Senior Pharmacy Technician, Procurement - Automation and Distribution
Join us at Temple B'nai Abraham as a Senior Pharmacy Technician, Procurement - Automation and Distribution. We are seeking a motivated and experienced professional to coordinate logistics and staff within our Procurement Services, focusing on WDA and vaccine management. Your responsibilities will include leading workflow planning, overseeing skill mix, and delivering training for pharmacy staff pursuing NVQ Level 2 and 3 qualifications, including mentoring and appraisals.
In this role, you will work within established technical pharmacy codes and procedures, supporting the Pharmaceutical Service and Medicines Management agenda across the UHB. Key responsibilities include dispensing prescriptions, conducting technical checks on emergency drug boxes and over-labelled medicines, and collaborating with the MMPU and clinical procurement team to manage medication shortages and source alternatives.

You will manage the service and staff within the procurement, distribution, and vaccine teams. You will be responsible for ensuring the supply of vaccines across the CTM footprint to schools, Primary Care, and CVCs. Additionally, you will develop and participate in providing specialist Pharmacy Procurement Services, ensuring cost-effective medicine supply, and managing a WDA contract servicing customers across CTM.
Other key duties include implementing changes and continuous quality improvement within these services, managing automation systems such as pharmacy robots and Automated Dispensing Systems (Mediwells / Omnicell), and ensuring medication ordering aligns with national and regional contracts for Prince Charles Hospital. You will oversee the purchase order, delivery, and payment systems to ensure a constant supply of quality medicines to the UHB and its patients.
This post considers Welsh language skills desirable, specifically speaking and listening skills at Level 3 (CEFR B2) or above, which involves basic conversations with patients about their health. Welsh skills are not essential but will be advantageous during shortlisting and selection.
