Pembrokeshire County Council is seeking an ambitious and experienced Social Worker to join our Community Mental Health and AMHP Team based at Bro Cerwyn, Haverfordwest. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated practitioner who is looking to further develop their career within mental health services while making a meaningful difference to the people of Pembrokeshire.
Our Community Mental Health Team is a supportive and multi-disciplinary service, committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care. As part of this team, you will play a key role in supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges, helping them to achieve improved outcomes and greater independence.
In this role, you will manage a caseload of individuals within secondary mental health services who have Care and Treatment Plans (CTPs). You will work within the relevant legislative frameworks, including the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010 and the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act, ensuring that all interventions are lawful, proportionate, and focused on the needs of the individual.
You will also contribute to the team’s duty rota, responding to general enquiries and providing support where needed. The role requires someone who is confident working both independently and collaboratively, and who can build effective relationships with service users, colleagues, and partner agencies.
We are looking for someone who is person-centred in their approach, with the energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to deliver high-quality practice. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to organise and manage your workload effectively.
The successful candidate must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered as a Social Worker.
Person Specification
• A recognised Social Work qualification (CQSW, DipSW, CSS, BA Hons, or Masters)
• Registration as a Social Worker
• Practical knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended), Mental Capacity Act 2005, Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014, and Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010
• Experience of working with adults in a mental health setting (post-qualification experience desirable)
• The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload
• A collaborative approach to working with other professionals and agencies
• Good IT skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle
