Active Neuro is preparing to launch a brand new, multi-million-pound, 52-bed specialist neurological and spinal rehabilitation hospital in Buckinghamshire that will become our flagship rehabilitation service and a national centre of excellence for complex neurorehabilitation, supporting patients from across the UK and internationally.
Main duties of the job
Due to open in Summer 2027, this state-of-the-art facility will deliver highly specialist inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation through integrated multidisciplinary teams, advanced rehabilitation technologies and evidence-based clinical pathways.
Designed around early, intensive and technology-enabled rehabilitation, the hospital will deliver more coordinated, effective and personalised care for individuals with complex neurological and spinal conditions helping address growing demand for specialist rehabilitation and improving access to life-changing support.
We are now seeking an exceptional Hospital Director to lead this ambitious development from pre-opening through to operational excellence.

The Opportunity
This is far more than a traditional hospital leadership role. As Hospital Director, you will lead the mobilisation and operational launch of this flagship rehabilitation service, taking full strategic and operational ownership from pre-opening through to long-term growth and success.
You will oversee the transformation of a brownfield site into a world-class neurological and spinal rehabilitation hospital, while simultaneously building the culture, operational infrastructure, clinical service model and leadership team entirely from scratch.
From regulatory registration and mobilisation through to recruitment, commissioning and service launch, you will play a defining role in creating one of the UK’s most advanced rehabilitation hospitals and shaping the future of specialist neurorehabilitation.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
* Leading the development, mobilisation and operational readiness of a brand-new specialist rehabilitation hospital
* Establishing all regulatory, governance and operational frameworks required for launch
* Managing registration with the relevant regulatory bodies and ensuring full pre-opening compliance and inspection readiness
* Designing and embedding the hospital’s culture, leadership structure, operating model and clinical governance systems
* Building and leading a high-performing multidisciplinary workforce from the ground up
* Creating a positive, ambitious and values-led culture from day one
* Developing strong national commissioner, stakeholder and referral relationships
* Positioning the hospital as a recognised centre of excellence within neuro and spinal rehabilitation
* Driving exceptional quality, occupancy, patient outcomes and financial performance
Person Specification
Experience
* Previous experience as a Hospital Director, Registered Manager or senior operational leader within complex healthcare services
* A strong track record within independent healthcare, neurological rehabilitation, spinal rehabilitation, complex care or hospital environments
* Proven ability to build, lead and inspire large multidisciplinary teams and create high-performance, values-led cultures
* Commercial and financial acumen, including responsibility for occupancy, budgets and operational performance
* Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks, governance and compliance, including experience working closely with bodies such as the CQC
* Brownfield healthcare project experience would be highly advantageous
* Experience and/or knowledge of private healthcare and insurance-funded care pathways
* Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build credibility with commissioners, clinicians, families and external partners
* A visible and authentic leadership style, combined with a passion for person-centred rehabilitation and improving outcomes for individuals with complex needs
