Description Are you looking for the opportunity to work as a Lead Unified Communications Engineer and join our Unified Communications team? As Lead Unified Communications Engineer, you will work within an inclusive culture and be responsible for managing the infrastructure and services within Unified Communications and working closely with teams from across the IT Service Operations space of Scottish Government. You will work within Information & Technology Services (iTECS), a division of the Scottish Government that sits within the Digital Directorate. Led by the Chief Operating Officer, iTECS is responsible for: Delivering corporate ICT and information services for Scottish Government. Delivering shared ICT services (SCOTS Connect) to paying customer across the central government community in Scotland – shared services customers now make up around 50% of the 23,000 user base. Protecting Scottish Government’s information and ICT assets. Contributing to the delivery of Digital Public Services by ensuring that our people and businesses are making the most of the digital opportunity; and that ICT public services are customer-centric, collaborative, integrated, efficient and continuously improving by making best use of digital technology. Responsibilities Establish yourself as a Subject Matter Expert for voice and video communications infrastructure and services. Designing, implementing, administering and supporting infrastructure technologies and solutions such as compute, software, and software as a service (Cloud) solutions. Initiating and monitoring actions to investigate patterns and trends to resolve problems, including consulting specialists where required. You will determine the appropriate remedy and assist with implementation of fixes as well as preventative measures. Identifying the correct procedures and appropriate channels for resolution and monitor resolution activities and progress updates to users. Coaching and mentoring more junior infrastructure engineers, participating in their appraisal and related performance management processes. You’ll create documentation describing how a technology is going to be implemented, so that others can run the item that you’ve built or overseen. Maintain relationships with other technical resolvers, and interact with our userbase to build trust, gather insights and set priorities. Candidates reaching this stage will receive a Technical Assessment Candidate Pack which outlines the specific skills to be assessed, plus the method of assessment. Experience: Significant experience designing and implementing scalable infrastructure solutions. In-depth knowledge of industry standards and best practices for infrastructure management. Proven track record of leading infrastructure projects, ensuring successful delivery. Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align technical solutions with business goals. Experience conducting risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies for infrastructure changes.
