Job overview
Are you a dynamic and highly motivated individual? We have the perfect role for you! We are seeking a Resuscitation Officer to join our team and make a real impact on patient safety and the development of clinical staff.
Previous experience as a Resuscitation Officer would be desirable, but we also welcome applicants looking for a development opportunity. If you are UK registered qualified nurse, have a recognised teaching qualification and a current Resuscitation Council UK instructor certificate for Advanced Life Support (or are on the instructor pathway), we want to hear from you!
In this role, you will primarily focus on teaching. You will have the opportunity to deliver adult and paediatric resuscitation training at various levels to our dedicated clinical staff and external clients. Additionally, you'll be involved in undertaking defined projects related to the service, such as quality improvement initiatives and attending Medical Emergency Team calls.
To excel in this position, excellent communication, interpersonal, time management, and organisational skills are essential. You must be self-motivated and thrive in a team environment. A thorough working knowledge of the current Resuscitation Council UK guidelines is a must.
Ideally, this is a full-time role, but part-time hours will be considered.
Main duties of the job
In this role you are a specialist in Resuscitation, delivering the core daily training and operational resuscitation service, under the guidance of the Resuscitation Manager.
You will attend Medical Emergency Team (MET) calls involving deteriorating patients and cardiac arrests across SFT whenever possible. You will attend MET calls independently once you have achieved advanced provider status in that specialty, acting in a role appropriate to your level of training and competence.
You will provide specialist knowledge, advice, and clinical support regarding resuscitation and medical emergencies within the Trust and, where appropriate, for external organisations.
You will work closely with all team members and will be responsible for contributing to the delivery and debriefing of adult and paediatric resuscitation training for a range of multi-professional staff.
As an Advanced Resuscitation Provider, you will have a high degree of precision, and the necessary physical skills required for performing resuscitation skills such as defibrillation intraosseous needle insertion and advanced airway management. You will be entering emergency situations with no or limited warning that are highly complex, multifactorial situations within potentially uncontrolled environments.
Please see attached job description and person specification for full details of roles and responsibilities.
