PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Are you a data analyst who loves bringing data to life? Our team provides business and data analysis expertise for BBC Technology and Media Operations and its many departments. We’re looking for a Data Analyst to join our team to deliver data facts, a data narrative, and data insights. These will be used in a wide variety of projects, programmes, and products with our stakeholders across the organisation – both technical and non‑technical. We provide insights that are useful, clear, and easy to understand, ensuring the highest data quality. We are passionate about the power of data and want you to help the organisation make the right choices. Personal development is encouraged through learning and skill development.
INTERVIEW PROCESS
Virtual Interview Containing Two Parts
* Short scenario exercise – approx. 15 minutes preparation, followed by a discussion on the answer.
* Technical and values‑based questions – approx. 45‑60 minutes.
* Interviews will be conducted in December.
Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
* Deliver analysis for a wide range of projects, programmes, and products, using data from SQL databases, Excel files, SharePoint, Dropbox, and supplier data sources.
* Provide data in various formats, including visualisations, dashboards, and presentations.
* Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the right questions are asked and answered.
* Deliver clear and understandable data, from high level to detailed granularity.
* Ensure data accuracy, completeness and consistency across sources.
* Maintain and update our data catalogue so data is well documented and reusable.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Practical understanding of one or more data scripting languages such as Python, SQL or R.
* Practical understanding of one or more data visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
* Understanding of AI products and prompt engineering.
* Good communication skills and ability to bring data to life.
Desirable Skills
* Natural inquisitiveness and problem‑solving enthusiasm.
* Ability to simplify complex problems into components and solve systematically.
* Experience working with personal and/or sensitive data.
* Strong time‑management and prioritisation skills.
And most of all, you’ll need to be interested and excited by data!
