Overview
We are seeking a salaried GP to provide maternity cover for approximately 9 months (starting 6 July 2026). The post is 4-6 sessions per week, ideally Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide face-to-face, telephone and online GP consultations.
* Manage acute, long-term and preventive care within general practice scope.
* Perform home visits where clinically appropriate.
* Review investigations, hospital letters and other correspondence.
* Prescribe medicines in line with local and national guidance.
* Make referrals to secondary care and community services.
* Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and comprehensive clinical records.
* Participate in the duty/on-call rota and practice meetings within contracted time.
* Prioritise and manage same-day urgent demand safely.
* Engage in CPD, appraisal, and contribute to learning for colleagues.
Qualifications & Experience
* Fully qualified medical practitioner with MBBS or equivalent.
* Full registration with the General Medical Council.
* Inclusion on the NHS England GP Performers List.
* Evidence of ongoing CPD and engagement with annual GP appraisal and revalidation requirements.
* Experience working in UK general practice or comparable primary care setting.
* Competence in managing acute and chronic conditions in a community setting.
* Experience in a multidisciplinary team.
* Proficiency with electronic clinical systems (SystmOne).
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Commitment to clinical governance and audit.
