Job Summary

The Assistant HESS Manager, Fire Safety is responsible for maintaining the highest level of fire safety at Celebration Key by conducting regular inspections, training team members and Third Party Vendors on fire prevention and emergency procedures, ensuring all firefighting and fire suppression equipment is functional, identifying potential fire hazards, and coordinating with other departments to uphold safety standards, all while adhering to national regulations, company policies, and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) compliant fire codes; essentially acting as a dedicated fire safety expert at the destination. He/she must have a strong knowledge of fire plans, maritime and/or industrial safety principles and NFPA Codes 13, 25, and 72.

The Carnival Grand Bahama Investments Limited (CGBIL), a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation & plc, is seeking an Assistant HESS Manager, Fire Safety.

The role will also play a critical role in the broader Carnival Corporation Global Ports and Destinations Development (GPDD) team. GPDD is responsible for the development and operation of our six existing Carnival-owned destinations in the Caribbean: Grand Turk (Turks and Caicos), Mahogany Bay (Roatan, Honduras), Puerta Maya (Cozumel, Mexico), Amber Cove (Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic), Half Moon Cay (Little San Salvador, The Bahamas), and Princess Cays (Eleuthera, The Bahamas). GPDD is also responsible for the development and operation of Celebration Key, expected to open in July 2025. The six (6) existing destinations are expected to welcome more than six (6) million visitors in 2024, with that number expected to grow significantly once Celebration Key is opened, and they include a variety of world-leading amenities such as: pristine beaches, pools, swim‑up bars, water activities, food and beverage, retail, and cultural exhibits.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Assistant HESS Manager, Fire Safety is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

* Delivery of a comprehensive fire safety training to all team members and third parties, including fire safety drills, familiarization sessions, and related emergency response procedures.
* Train designated in‑house fire teams on proper use of firefighting equipment and emergency response protocols.
* Regular inspection of all fire safety equipment (fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, sprinkler systems) to ensure proper functionality and maintenance.
* Conduct thorough inspections of port destination (front of house and back of house) to identify potential fire hazards and report them to relevant authorities.
* Facilitate and oversee the maintenance and repair of fire safety equipment.
* Act as a key member of the emergency response team during fire drills and fire‑related emergencies.
* Maintain detailed records of fire safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant national fire safety regulations and company safety standards.
* Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential fire hazards and implement preventive measures.
* Monitor hot work areas and ensure proper safety procedures are followed during welding or cutting operations.
* Work closely with other departments, including the HESS and Engineering Teams, to maintain a comprehensive safety culture.
* Report any safety concerns to the appropriate authorities.
* Assist the HESS Manager with any other job‑related tasks as requested.


Education and Qualifications

* Associates degree in related field or hold a recognized fire safety certification, ideally with experience in maritime or industrial fire safety.
* Possession of a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFP) certification is preferred.
* 5+ years’ experience in Bahamas Building Code compliance.
* Ability to effectively communicate safety procedures and instructions to teams from diverse backgrounds.
* Meticulous in conducting inspections and maintaining accurate documentation.
* Ability to lead and coordinate emergency response teams during fire incidents.
* Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including wearing elementary firefighting gear and operating basic firefighting equipment.


Skills and Specifications

* Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), computer business applications and report writing.
* Solid knowledge of technical principles and processes.
* Exceptional communication and problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Strong knowledge of electrical, fire suppression, fire sprinkler, mobile water truck working knowledge with an ability to develop standard operating procedures and schedules regarding the same.
* Strong leadership and people management skills.
* Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
* Great organizational and multitasking abilities.
* High‑level of attention to detail.


Language Requirements

* Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with employees, third parties and guests.
* Ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, managers, co‑workers and business affiliates.


Physical Requirements

* Must be physically fit.
* Ability to work in an outdoor environment.
* Ability to multi‑task and think critically.


Other Requirements

* Work may require employees to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
* May be required to work shifts.
