Overview
Head of Supply Chain. Full time, on-site, Melbourn, Cambridgeshire.
Cellular origins are developing automated factory platforms to enable scalable, high-quality manufacturing for cell therapies. As Head of Supply Chain, you’ll ensure everything behind those platforms works as it should, from specialist equipment and consumables to long-term supplier partnerships. This is an opportunity to build a supply chain function that grows with the business and supports the mission long term.
This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role. You’ll work with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Field Operations and PMO to ensure supply decisions support GMP requirements, commercial realities and customer expectations.
What you’ll do
* Define and embed a supply chain operating model that supports the full lifecycle of our systems, from development through customer deployment and long-term service, including equipment, consumables, software suppliers, sub-contractors and service partners.
* Build strong, pragmatic supplier relationships and lead commercial and contractual negotiations with Legal to ensure robust, balanced agreements suitable for a regulated life sciences environment.
* Own supplier risk, continuity planning, change control and long-lead items to enable rapid business execution while managing risk.
* Build and lead a high-performing supply chain and procurement team, defining roles, interfaces and priorities, and creating scalable structures.
* As deployments move from early phases to broader commercial delivery, evolve governance, planning, inventory and supplier performance management to support predictability without slowing progress.
* In the first 6 to 12 months, stabilise critical supply paths for upcoming deployments, strengthen supplier contracts in high-impact areas, introduce lightweight planning and inventory approaches, and ensure evidence and traceability required by regulated customers are consistently provided.
Qualifications
* You enjoy building capability where none existed before and can mature it as complexity grows, balancing pace, quality and risk.
* Significant experience leading supply chain or procurement in complex, regulated environments such as cell and gene therapy, biopharma manufacturing, medical devices, automation, instrumentation or related life sciences fields.
* Experience building or scaling supply chain functions, with the ability to operate at both hands-on and strategic design levels.
* Understanding of GMP-relevant supply, including equipment configuration, consumables control, documentation, traceability and change management; ability to work with Quality and Regulatory colleagues and understand how supply decisions impact validation and compliance.
* Experience as a people leader, building teams, clarifying ownership and expectations, and fostering collaborative ways of working with a pragmatic mindset and commercial awareness.
