NHS TAYSIDE LOCUM APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE (LAS) IN ONCOLOGY (Fixed Term - 12 months March 2026 – March 2027) This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a LAS. Our service is led by 14 consultants, including an academic Professor of Medical Oncology. The successful applicant will join our middle grade team of 8 STs and 3 Specialty Drs. The post is fixed term for 12 months, working full time, 40 hours per week. Applicants must have excellent inter-personal skills and previous NHS experience working in oncology. They will take part in a middle grade out of hours rota and previous experience in acute oncology is desirable. Dundee is Scotland’s fourth largest city and lies on the bank of the River Tay. It houses two large Universities (Abertay and Dundee) and is the focal point of a thriving biomedical technology industry. Ninewells is a major teaching hospital, and has been designated one of the Regional Cancer Centres in Scotland. We provide on a single site all surgical, radiotherapy, and medical oncology services. The department enjoys close links with the University of Dundee Medical School and Life Sciences, and the successful applicant will be encouraged to develop their role as an educator and researcher. The successful applicant will help deliver high level clinical service for oncology patients and will have the opportunity to gain intensive and wide-ranging experience. They will be encouraged to participate in training, teaching, audit and research opportunities. In addition to a busy outpatient service, you will be involved with ward work, our chemotherapy units, our radiotherapy department and the clinical trial (Stefani) unit. We have a 15 bedded ward, taking direct admissions, and an acute Oncology Service which is nurse-led. The post provides an excellent opportunity to gain oncology experience and increase the chance of securing an NTN in due course.
