An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Consultant Physicians to join us in providing high quality care to the adult population of Fife, working as part of the Acute Medicine team based within the Acute Medical, Medical High Dependency and Ambulatory Care units of the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. We now have university hospital status as well as having a newly established SDEC unit,. The successful candidate/s would be instrumental in progressing this unit as well as reforming the medical admissions unit.
The successful candidate will have appropriate SPA time, with the team supporting their areas of specialist interest. They would have 7 DCC, 1 SPA and 2 PA’s for special interest. This could be reviewed in due course.
Medical education applicants should at least have a Masters in Education and be familiar with Scottish curricula. Up to 2 Programmed Activities (PAs) can be offered, aligned with the Department of Medical Education, to support the development and delivery of teaching components within the programme. This will focus particularly on enhancing the Department of Medicine’s contribution to teaching penultimate and final year students on the programme. Teaching will take place both within the education hubs and experientially in clinical areas, ensuring students gain a rich and varied learning experience. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to help shape the delivery of this innovative programme and further embed a positive learning culture within the clinical service. There is a commitment to the acute medical receiving on-call rota, currently on a 1:8 weekend rota and 1:28 weekday late rota.

Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded.
