Description Salary: £62,634 - £66,724 pro rata Hours per week: 14.5 hours Interview date: Monday 16 June 2025 Education and Skills - Building Bright Futures We have an exciting opportunity for a School Improvement Advisor to join the School Effectiveness Team on a permanent, part-time basis. Are you an experienced and effective Headteacher who is looking for the next step in your career? Do you want to be part of a service dedicated to supporting school leaders and ensuring that every child attends a good school? The Schools Effectiveness service is responsible for ensuring the development and effectiveness of primary, secondary and special schools, with specific focus on maintained schools, across Wiltshire. As a School Improvement Advisor, you will be responsible for providing school leaders with crucial support and professional challenge for their school improvement priorities and the impact of that work. You will support school leaders in planning effective changes to build capacity for improvement in pupils’ achievements and to achieve key outcomes for children and young people. Specific duties will also include, providing rigorous analysis and monitoring of schools through assessing the school’s strengths and weaknesses in line with Ofsted criteria, reviewing and validating schools’ self-evaluations. A particular focus of the role will be supporting school leaders with advice and guidance and to ensure effective strategic plans are created to address priorities through robust and sustainable improvement provisions. Our ideal candidate will be educated to degree level, and hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) alongside having significant post qualification experience. You should have recent experience in a Headship or Senior Leadership role within a school or local authority and can evidence the impact of your leadership on pupil outcomes. Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation relating to the safeguarding and protection of children and young people, and statutory roles and responsibilities of schools and local authorities regarding education and school improvement, will be essential.
