DIVISION & UNIT OVERVIEW
This position is under the supervision of the Director of Transportation. The Driver position is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of commercial motor vehicles owned and/or operated by Western International Gas and Cylinders, Inc.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the transportation of materials in a safe and timely manner by applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and roads in the area. The professional driver will be responsible for driving to and from designated locations, verifying loads with shipping papers, maintaining records of duty status according to State and Federal Regulations, and performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Must present a professional business image to the public as well as fellow employees. Must possess a valid commercial Class A Drivers' License, Hazmat, Air Brake Endorsements, and Medical card; packaged gas straight truck driver; to include pumper, micro-bulk. Tanker Endorsements are preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Transport cylinders to assigned internal and external customers in a timely and safety-conscious manner, staying within all posted speed limits and complying with all DOT and company safety policies and procedures.
2. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the vehicle, maintaining it in a clean and proper condition.
3. Legibly complete driver log/trip reports daily.
4. Accurately record cylinders/hard-goods transactions on customer delivery tickets and trip reports.
5. Maintain good communication with supervisor and management, especially regarding safety and customer matters.
6. Operate/drive forklift as required for loading and unloading of products.
7. Set a positive example through adherence to company loss prevention policies and procedures. Report accidents, near misses, unsafe acts or conditions, and obey safety rules.
8. Use effective time management tools to meet work commitments and scheduled deadlines, ensuring safety and on-time delivery.
9. Participate as an active member of the local safety committee when assigned.
10. Fill cryogenic liquid Dewars.
11. Provide first-line technical support.
12. Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Possess a valid commercial Class A Drivers' License, Hazmat, Air Brake Endorsements, and Medical card; packaged gas straight truck driver, including pumper, micro-bulk. Tanker Endorsements are preferred.
* Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
* Previous commercial driving experience or graduation from an accredited commercial driving school.
* Minimum of one year of road experience preferred, with no previous moving violations in the past three years.
* At least 21 years of age with an excellent driving record.
* Ability to push cylinders weighing over 200 lbs and lift containers over 50 lbs.
* Ability to read and write English, perform simple mathematical calculations, and handle receipts, maps, and road signs.
* Basic administrative and problem-solving skills.
* Flexible work hours.
* Prolonged sitting, bending, stooping, and climbing.
* Ability to work in diverse weather and working conditions.
* Preferred previous experience in the cylinder gas or chemical industry.
