Senior Network Engineer with Proxy and F5 Load Balancing Experience
Hybrid working – requires a minimum of 2 days on site at one of the DXC regional delivery centres in Glasgow or Newcastle. The role includes project delivery and operational support on UK Secure accounts. SC clearance is mandatory.
Job Summary: The role focuses on implementing remote network services for a DXC secure customer, covering Proxy, F5 load balancing, LAN, WAN, firewall, and security infrastructures, with a key focus on Cisco and Aruba.
Requirement: 10 years of proven work experience in a challenging multi‑vendor data centre environment, as part of a team delivering project engineering functions.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain data network hardware and systems.
* Investigate and resolve network and hardware issues.
* Analyze, isolate, and troubleshoot network errors.
* Assess and upgrade legacy network components as needed.
Technical Support & Leadership
* Provide technical support for internal and external customers.
* Respond to technical inquiries and recommend solutions.
* Lead network problem escalation and resolution.
* Mentor junior Network Engineering staff.
Network Installation & Configuration
* Install and maintain network infrastructure (hardware, software, etc.) for small to medium‑sized networks.
* Deploy network applications on servers and voice equipment.
* Conduct network testing, maintenance, and problem resolution.
* Perform network configurations and implement changes on routers, switches, firewalls, and security appliances.
Documentation & Communication
* Prepare network diagrams and documentation to reflect current operational status.
* Draft proposal documentation to address customer requirements.
* Collaborate with network architects to design and implement functional company networks.
* Conduct regular network performance tests.
Mandatory Skills
* Cisco LAN/WAN (CCNP level).
* Aruba LAN (Aruba ACP level).
* Experience in large‑scale multi‑vendor complex campus environments.
* Experience with Checkpoint and Palo Alto firewalls.
* Knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, iBGP).
* Familiarity with forwarding/reverse proxy technologies (Broadcom/Symantec, Netskope).
* PKI & SSL certificate experience, browser configuration knowledge.
* Knowledge of web servers (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
* Layer 7 understanding, end‑to‑end application flow skills.
* F5 Load balancing, Big IP LTM/GTM.
* Experience with large‑scale structured cabling infrastructures.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
* Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or related field.
* Experience in data networking with Cisco and Aruba infrastructures.
* Proven experience troubleshooting LAN/WAN/FW systems and technical infrastructure.
* Knowledge of modern network systems, principles, and data/video communication.
* Eligible for or currently possess SC clearance (mandatory).
