SEMH Learning Support Assistant

Position: Full-Time
Protocol Education is currently recruiting for a SEMH Learning Support Assistant to work in a welcoming and supportive school in Durham. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them engage positively with learning and school life.
The school prides itself on having a strong and supportive staffing team, where staff work closely together to provide consistent guidance and encouragement for pupils.
What your day may look like:
* Supporting pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 or small group basis
* Helping students manage emotions and develop positive behaviour strategies
* Supporting pupils to stay engaged in lessons and structured learning activities
* Encouraging confidence, independence and resilience
* Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support pupils’ progress
* Creating a calm, safe and supportive learning environment
What experience we’re looking for:
* Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
* Background in education, youth work, support work or mentoring
* Strong communication and behaviour management skills
* A patient, resilient and positive approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
