Job Title: Shift Lead (Electrically Biased)\n\n Location: Watford\n\n Salary: £51,000 – £55,000 (inclusive of shift allowance)\n\n Shift Pattern: Continental Shift – 4 days on, 6 days off, 4 nights on, 4 days off, 6 days on (3 days/3 nights). Minimum of 2 weekends off per month.\n\n About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and electrically biased Shift Lead to join our team at the CapitaLand Data Centre in Watford. This is a hands-on, client-facing role suited to a professional with strong technical capabilities and a solid background in critical environments.\n\n Key Responsibilities:\nLead and oversee daily operations within the data centre environment\nPerform preventative and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems\nEnsure the site remains compliant with all relevant health and safety standards\nRespond to and resolve technical issues and emergency situations\nSupervise and support on-site engineers and contractors\nParticipate in and support HV switching operations (training available if not already qualified)\nSupport the Account Manager with reporting and technical documentationRequirements:\nEssential:\n\nProven experience in a data centre or other critical environment\nElectrically biased with relevant qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)\nStrong knowledge of building services and systems (UPS, HVAC, fire suppression, generators)\nExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure\nDesirable:\n\nHigh Voltage (HV) qualification (preferred but not essential – training will be provided post-probation)\nPrevious team leadership or supervisory experienceBenefits:\nCompetitive salary with shift allowance included\nGenerous overtime rates: x1.5 standard, x2 on Sundays and Bank Holidays\nNo call-out requirement\nSupportive working environment with opportunities for upskilling (including HV training)\nStructured interview process with a technical focus to ensure the right fitInterview Process:\n1st Stage: Microsoft Teams interview – introduction and initial technical questions\n2nd Stage: In-person technical interview – in-depth technical scenarios and discussionIf you’re ready to take the next step in your data centre career and thrive in a critical, high-performing environment, we’d love to hear from you
