Redbridge Civic Services is a Company Wholly Owned by London Borough of Redbridge. We have a workforce of 140 refuse collection vehicle drivers and loaders. Our objective is to clear all domestic waste from the curbside outside of the 90,000+ properties for the 300,000+ residents in the London Borough of Redbridge. Sounds easy – but it's not
We are based out of the WREN Centre, Ley Street Depot, Ley Street, Ilford IG2 7QZ.
PURPOSE OF ROLE
Supervise and manage staff on the curbside collection services. This includes monitoring the quality of work undertaken, liaising with relevant Client officers, other RCS staff as well as members of the public to ensure customer and client satisfaction with our frontline services.
Allocate work and round schedules to staff/crews.
Brief the crews on any specific items such as new assisted collections, traffic and other issues.
Manage day to day health and safety by ensuring all crews have PPE, vehicle checks etc.
Promote health and safety reporting, working to improve the workspace and give feedback on reports.
Help crews use essential aids, including tablets and Whitespace recording.
Assist the training and development of the workforce.
Support the HR manager to manage sickness including conducting return to work interviews and long-term absence reviews. At all times consider staff welfare and support staff to return to work.
Manage investigations into accidents and incidents by gathering evidence and taking statements.
Support the other Supervisors and senior management team to deliver the service requirements in accordance with the contract.
Attend meetings with the client team, Union and other stakeholders when required.
Other duties and tasks directed by the senior management team.
· Good knowledge of Health & Safety on curbside collection services – IOSH, NEBOSH or other H&S qualifications beneficial
· A good understanding of all aspects of curbside services
· Good people skills – confident to talk to crews, managers, client and residents
· Experience of investigations into accidents and incidents
· Experience of investigation into disciplinary matters
· Good literacy skills
· Good IT skills – Microsoft office preferred
· Presentation and training skills, for example manual handling Train the Trainer
· Flexibility to start at 05:30 Monday to Friday on a shift system
· Driving license essential
· Class 2 HGV license and full CPC desirable but not essential
