We seek a highly motivated Clinical Research Fellow to join Professor Menna Clatworthy's group in the Department of Medicine to conduct innovative research in renal medicine. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research exploring how spatial biology can provide novel insights into the pathogenesis of kidney disease, with a focus on collaboration with the Cambridge-GSK Translational Immunology Collaboration (CG-TIC). This partnership between the University of Cambridge and GSK combines expertise in immunology, AI, and clinical development, focusing on chronic kidney disease (affecting approximately 850 million people) and chronic respiratory disease (affecting around 545 million people). The collaboration aims to accelerate research into immune-related diseases using advanced analytical technologies.
The Clinical Research Fellow will conduct high-quality research using spatial biology techniques, integrating multi-omics and clinical data, and collaborating closely with colleagues at CG-TIC and GSK.
This position is based in the Department of Medicine, primarily working with researchers at the Cambridge Institute of Therapeutic Immunology & Infectious Disease (CITIID). The successful candidate will work under the mentorship of Prof. Menna Clatworthy, a leader in renal immunology, tissue immunity, and spatial biology, and collaborate with Dr. James McCaffrey, an expert in spatial biology.
Applicants should hold a medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with an interest in renal medicine. Experience working with industry partners and in collaborative environments is valuable but not essential. Prior experience with spatial biology, omics, or bioinformatics is advantageous.
The role includes the opportunity to undertake a fully funded PhD within the Department of Medicine, with access to high-quality training and mentorship.
For informal enquiries, please contact Prof. David Thomas (tdct2@cam.ac.uk) or Prof. Menna Clatworthy (mrc38@medschl.cam.ac.uk).
