Overview
Youth Mentor role in an Alternative Provision (AP) setting. This position involves supporting learners with additional needs, helping them develop academically and personally. The successful candidate will provide guidance, encouragement, and practical support to learners, contributing to a safe and nurturing environment.
Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday – 9:30 – 13:30
Salary: £14.00 – £15.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities
* Support learners with daily tasks and routines
* Provide educational support and help learners engage with classroom activities
* Assist learners with their social, emotional, and mental wellbeing
* Build positive and trusting relationships with learners to encourage engagement and progress
* Work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to support individual learner needs
* Support behaviour management and help learners develop positive coping strategies
* Promote inclusion and equality, ensuring all learners feel safe and valued
Requirements
* Experience working with young people, particularly those with additional needs
* Understanding of social, emotional, and mental health challenges
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to supporting learners
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
* Safeguarding training or willingness to complete upon appointment
* Experience in an educational or care setting is desirable
