MPS/UPS (England & Wales) + Teacher Pension Scheme + 24/7 access to a free virtual GP Service + collaborative MAT network + additional LAT benefits .

Do you have the passion and expertise to inspire young minds and foster a lifelong curiosity about the world around us? Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School is seeking to appoint either an already outstanding Teacher of Science or a talented practitioner with the potential to become outstanding.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly successful Science department with a strong track record of delivering excellent outcomes for pupils. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality learning experiences that challenge, engage and motivate our students, helping them to develop strong scientific knowledge, practical skills and critical thinking.

As a member of the Science team, you will benefit from working in a department that values collaboration, innovation and high expectations. Teaching takes place in a suite of 14 recently refurbished, superbly equipped laboratories, enabling practical, engaging and ambitious lessons that bring Science to life. Due to flexibility within the department, we are pleased to consider specialists in Biology, Chemistry or Physics.

If you are committed to providing a first class education experience, then we'd love to hear from you.

This is a permanent role, offering MPS/UPS based on experience.

Working with us at Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical school

Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School was founded in 1701 in order to provide an education to young men who would go on to work at the famous Chatham Dockyard. More than 300 years later we still pride ourselves on providing a superb academic education alongside an unparalleled range of opportunities for personal growth and character development. Awarded ‘outstanding’ in our last Ofsted, the comment that stands out to us is, “students thrive within its distinctive ethos, enabling them to succeed academically and to develop into confident, well-rounded individuals who are prepared extremely well for their future lives.”

In 2012 the School became one of the first 100 National Teaching Schools and in 2021 was successful in converting this into becoming one of the first 35 National Teaching School Hubs. Alongside our work as a National Support School, our position in Leigh Academies Trust and as the lead school in the Kent and Medway Maths Hub the school is in unrivalled position to offer superb support and training to any new member of staff, regardless of their role, or their experience.
