GSL Education are currently recruiting for a compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to support students in a specialist setting in Castleford. This opportunity is perfect for individuals with prior SEN experience who are eager to make a meaningful and lasting impact in education.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
* Assisting students with diverse special educational needs such as autism, ADHD, and SEMH challenges.
* Collaborating with teachers and the SENCO to implement personalised support strategies.
* Encouraging independent learning and fostering positive behaviour throughout the school day.
* Providing classroom support to help pupils engage with and access learning materials.
* Establishing strong, supportive relationships with students, staff, and families.
* Promoting emotional resilience and aiding in the development of pupils’ social interactions.
Skills & Requirements for SEN TA:
* Prior experience working with children with special educational needs in educational or care environments.
* Capable of maintaining a calm, patient, and optimistic approach in challenging situations.
* Good knowledge of safeguarding protocols and effective SEN support strategies.
* A full UK driving licence is preferred but not mandatory.
* An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
* A CV covering the last 10 years with any gaps clearly explained.
