Role Overview

We are recruiting for a Night Housing Support Officer to join our Housing team. The role involves delivering high‑quality support and personal development opportunities to young people in supported accommodation, responding flexibly to individual needs, and helping residents live as independently as possible.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide trauma‑informed and restorative support, develop and review individual support plans, keep accurate records.
* Manage crisis situations, physical risk or behaviour that could cause incidents in line with the individual’s support or risk management plans.
* Induct residents into accommodation, explain licence terms and health and safety issues.
* Support residents to live more independently and sustainably, within house and community.
* Maintain professional relationships with supports, families, partner agencies, funders and stakeholders.
* Attend support reviews with partnership agencies.
* Work safely in lone‑working situations and adhere to the Lone‑working policy.
* Understand fire safety and evacuation procedures.
* Safeguard adults, young people and children at risk of harm, following local and national guidelines.
* Engage in personal development, training and attend team and supervision meetings.
* Communicate with line management and undertake other tasks as required by senior management.
* Respond to emergencies in other YMCA East Surrey supported accommodation and understand on‑call process.
* Cover the front reception desk during evenings and handle incoming calls and communications.
* Contribute to service development and improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
Desired qualifications include Level 3 NVQ or higher in Housing, Social Work or Youth Work, a current First Aid qualification and an understanding of night‑work duties within supported housing. At the minimum we require knowledge of supported housing provision, understanding of the needs of young people, and experience working within Equal Opportunities and Diversity issues.
All new staff must undertake an Enhanced DBS check and reference checks. Successful candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK without restrictions and will not receive visa sponsorship.
