Unisys are seeking an IT Systems Application Engineer with Database Administrator expertise to work as part of a team supporting some of our most prestigious Public Sector clients in the UK.
This role will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to support a diverse range of mission critical applications which are at the core of Justice, Law Enforcement and Border Security agencies within the UK
What you will be doing in the role?
1. Maintaining a number of customer production environments ensuring that they are available 24*7. The role includes Oracle DBA work across multiple Oracle RACs and standalone databases. The DBA will be responsible for the smooth running of the databases, Oracle patching and maintenance and ensuring that the replication is kept up to date.
2. Maintain the environment hosting the oracle databases and application. This work includes monitoring, patching and general maintenance of the Linux servers and supporting the firewalls, IDS and security of the environment.
3. Install, configure and upgrade Oracle database software and related products
4. Support development teams with SQL tuning and query optimixation
5. Working closely with the Application Teams to perform troubleshooting on customer issues
6. Assist in the development and implementation of solutions.
7. Produce and maintain database documentation such as operating procedures, installation instructions, performance and tuning, disaster recovery, configurations, security policies and procedures.
8. Provide support to other projects/application using other database technologies e.g. SQL Server.
9. Liaise with the client’s technical, business and support teams and ensure information sharing takes place.
10. Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing

You will be successful in this role if you have:
19. Oracle DBA with experience of Oracle 19c and upwards including:Oracle Data GuardOracle RACRMAN backup/restoreInstallation and upgradesData migration via data pumpMonitoring of database and host environmentsUnderstanding of performance tuning and optimization techniques
20. Experience of SQL Server to support SQL environments: SQL Server 2012 or above
21. Linux (preferably Centos 7) and windows scripting knowledge
22. Knowledge of VMWare, JBOS and MQ Preferable
23. ITIL Foundation level certification
24. Batchelor’s degree in IT or related discipline
Security Requirements:
Candidates must be eligible for, and will be required to obtain, SC clearance for this post (already having clearance is advantageous).
