SEND Lifeskills and Vocational Education Manager

Join to apply for the SEND Lifeskills and Vocational Education Manager role at halow.

Role: Internally referred to as Head of Building Futures

Location: Primarily based in our Guildford head office, with occasional work based from our Woking satellite office, our community-based activities and departmental events.

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday 9am to 5:30pm with one hour unpaid lunch break, with occasional weekends and evenings for specific events.

Annual Leave: 33 days, inclusive of bank holidays.

Training: Fully paid training is given and further development opportunities are available.

Closing date: The planned closing date for applications is 30th September with an intended start date around mid-October subject to availability of the successful candidate. Interviews will be taking place on a rolling basis; apply at your earliest opportunity.

We are seeking an inspiring and visionary Head of Building Futures to lead our community-based life skills programme and vocational activities for adults with learning disabilities. Joining us at a pivotal and exciting stage of our growth, you will drive forward our ambitious plans to develop and expand the educational and vocational outcomes of the programme, ensuring they are innovative, impactful and person-centred.

We are looking for someone with proven experience in the field and a passion for empowering individuals to achieve their potential, who will combine strategic leadership with hands-on expertise, guiding a skilled team to deliver exceptional learning opportunities and real world outcomes. This is a unique opportunity to build on existing experience to shape the future of our programme and make a real lasting difference in the lives of the people we support.

You will be responsible for areas including:

* Managing the overall delivery of a safe and quality of the programme and activities to ensure we maintain our excellent reputation.
* Managing, developing and deploying a team of staff and alumni volunteers to provide a high-quality service and to ensure the smooth and safe running of all the programmes.
* Working with the Managing Director and Assistant Building Futures Manager to continue to develop and improve the current programme and seeking to develop new opportunities.
* Managing health & safety and safeguarding on the programme through up-to-date risk assessments, support plans and protocols and following the guidelines of our community partners at all times.
* Leading by example as a manager by being a presence on the programme, guiding staff and young people, and leading occasional sessions, when required.
* Building and growing the cohort of young adults accessing the programme.

Requirements:

* Proven experience leading and managing a team within the SEND/ASC sector
* Working knowledge of health & safety and safeguarding risk assessment and management when working with vulnerable adults or children
* Enthusiastic and caring
* Confident in supporting and delivering outstanding person-centred sessions to groups
* A willingness to provide hands-on support at activities when required
* Proactive and keen for continuous improvement in yourself and the adults you are supporting, contributing to the development of the programme and working closely with the team
* Aged 18 and above
* Right to work in the UK. Please note we are currently unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role.
* Willing to provide suitable references and undertake a DBS Check. The initial cost of the DBS application will be paid for by halow. It is a criminal offence for people who are barred from working in Regulated Activity to apply for a role that requires unsupervised work with that group (adults at risk, children or both).
