Job description:
We have an opportunity for a Senior Model Design Engineer to join the Team at the new Silverstone Facility. In this role you will work within a group of skilled design engineers in delivering quality designed 60% model parts for Wind Tunnel testing, to support the aerodynamic performance development of the team's race cars. We aspire to be the absolute best in every aspect of our team. Principal Accountabilities:
Deliver high quality designed parts for Wind Tunnel testing.
Responsible for complete design projects, including part creation, management, checking, fault prevention and resolution, as well as project documentation.
Continually improving the quality and functionality of the model parts/assemblies to improve the efficiency of the Wind Tunnel test program.
Support development and maintaining improved methods of working.
Work closely with Aerodynamicists and Surface Design Engineers to ensure the delivered parts meet the specified requirements.
Help mentor junior members of the group and support pushing forward methodologies and modelling improvements.
Support the management of standard design practices, ensuring these are adhered to.
Occasional travel may be required as part of this role.

Requirements
A degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering/Design/Motorsport) or similar.
Multiple years' relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within the motorsport industry.
Extensive experience with 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA).
Strong knowledge and understanding of part quality, model layout and robustness.
Possess a high level of understanding of parametric modelling techniques.
Ability to apply structural engineering techniques for part validation (FEA).
Strong knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques including composite manufacture and advanced digital manufacture.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of GD&T and its application.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
Able to perform duties in a timely manner with minimal errors.
Communicate effectively with key stakeholders/directors.
Clear and concise communication.
Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture.
