The Role
Key Responsibilities:
* Assess, treat, and rehabilitate injured players, ensuring safe return to training and matches.
* Make informed clinical decisions regarding a player’s fitness and readiness to play.
* Deliver education to players on injury prevention and physical well-being.
* Maintain accurate and confidential medical records (e.g. using Apollo).
* Ensure clinical practice aligns with CSP and HCPC professional standards.
* Attend and provide medical cover at training sessions and matches (home and away).
* Develop strong working relationships with players, parents, coaches, and medical staff.
* Communicate injury updates and rehabilitation progress clearly to stakeholders.
* Uphold and promote safeguarding policies, working closely with the club’s Safeguarding Team.
* Prepare and implement Emergency Action Plans for all training and match environments.
* Collect and report data to support evidence-based practice and funding requirements.
* Participate in ongoing CPD activities to stay updated on best practices in youth physiotherapy.
The Person:
* BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy.
* CSP (Chartered Society of Physiotherapy) membership.
* HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) registration.
* ITMMiF / ATMMiF (or equivalent matchday medical qualification).
* Experience working with young people in a physiotherapy capacity.
* Experience managing and rehabilitating sports injuries in youth athletes.
* Understanding of child development and youth musculoskeletal health.
* Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection best practices.
* Awareness of long-term athlete development principles.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to build trusting relationships with young athletes and parents.
* High levels of empathy, emotional intelligence, and approachability.
* Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
* Confident working independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Flexible and resilient in a high-performance environment.
* FA Safeguarding Children Certificate (desirable).
* FA Intermediate First Aid for Sport Certificate (desirable).
* Additional youth sport or physiotherapy qualifications (desirable).
* Full UK driving licence (desirable).
