Essex Highways is seeking a motivated and capable Streetworks Inspector to join our dynamic and supportive team, offering an exciting opportunity to build a progressive career in a rewarding industry. As a partnership between Essex County Council and Ringway Jacobs, Essex Highways delivers a high-quality service to communities across the county. Our Streetworks team plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and the effective operation of the Essex Permit Scheme – coordinating works, protecting highway assets, and minimising disruption for road users. You’ll record findings accurately using handheld technology, support the completion of remedial works, and engage directly with contractors, stakeholders, and the public. This is a varied, hands‑on position involving site visits by foot, vehicle, or other means – often covering significant distances – and may include investigating claims, responding to enquiries, and representing the authority where required.
