About the Role

As our Senior Market Research Manager, you’ll play a crucial role in building and developing a team of Market Researchers embedded across product verticals or growth teams. You’ll also be hands‑on in delivering insights on customer needs and market opportunities that help shape our product and growth strategies by building a deep understanding. You’ll champion the use of robust market insights and scale the impact of market research across the organisation to help us achieve our company mission of making money work for everyone.

Doing Market Research

* Using primary qualitative and quantitative market research methods, including analysing competitors, identifying macro market trends, assessing pricing, testing value propositions and messaging, and unpacking brand perceptions.
* Using quantitative research methods including conjoint analysis, max‑differences, and clustering/segmentation techniques to prioritise high‑value jobs and needs.

Impacting Strategy

* Partner with company leadership to shape our product and growth strategies, ensuring teams are solving the right customer problems in the right ways based on market understanding.
* Drive a deeper understanding of Monzo's increasingly diverse customer base, making sure products resonate across different needs and behaviours.
* Help us make money work for people outside the UK by understanding and comparing competitors in different markets, shaping value propositions, and tailoring brand voice for new international markets.
* Partner with leadership to make sure everyone in your research team is working on the highest impact areas, and individuals have autonomy to make those decisions where possible.
* Deepen our understanding of customer experience and NPS, including conducting competitive positioning analysis, identifying strengths and weaknesses, and mapping customer journeys to build truly magical experiences.
* Increase visibility of key market research insights and make sure action is taken as a result across the organisation.

Leading People

* Scope and build the future of the Market Research discipline at Monzo.
* Manage our first team of Market Researchers, supporting 1‑3 direct reports with clear goals and regular feedback.
* Work with research and marketing to define, set up and scale an effective suite of systems, processes and tools for market, consumer and brand insights.
* Continually raise the standard of market research.
* Develop sustainable ways of nurturing all talent within the Market Research team and contributing to the wider Research team.
* Hire brilliant, diverse people and ensure they are onboarded to be quickly effective.

You Should Apply If

* You have extensive market research expertise.
* You’ve used market research methods, including branding, advertising and growth marketing research, in a high‑growth product or technology organisation.
* You have experience making use of marketing insights, quantitative user research, product data and a range of other insights for better decision‑making.
* You are a hands‑on expert in advanced quantitative analysis techniques such as conjoint analysis, max‑diff scaling, clustering and segmentation.
* Your approach is a blend of rigorous, data‑scientist‑level quantitative methods with a solid understanding of user research principles.
* You’re comfortable self‑serving on market research tools to pull, manipulate, analyse and visualise primary data.

You've Enabled Product and Growth Strategy in a High‑Growth Tech Org

* You’ve had experience building or informing go‑to‑market strategies.
* You’re passionate about understanding the market and finding new opportunities to innovate.
* You’ve played a significant role driving sustainable growth through strategic thinking.
* You’re a strong communicator and facilitator and you’re passionate about driving projects forward by focusing on high‑impact outcomes and unblocking progress.

You Lead People to Do Their Best Work

* You’re a seasoned leader with experience coaching, mentoring and managing the growth of at least one team of at least two high‑performing researchers.
* You have experience resolving performance issues with clarity and kindness.
* You have a supportive and empowering management style and know how to give your people the right amount of autonomy to do their best work.
